Controlled Medication Policy
A Healthy Brain Psychiatry IS NOT able to prescribe schedule II stimulants including Adderall, Ritalin, Focalin, Concerta, Vyvanse, Dexedrine, Desoxyn. If a schedule II stimulant is needed, then referral will be made back to the patient's primary care provider to handle the prescription.
A Healthy Brain Psychiatry IS NOT able to prescribe narcotics for pain management. A Healthy Brain Psychiatry will only prescribe psychiatric medications for pain including Cymbalta, gabapentin, topiramate, amitriptyline.
Other schedule III to V controlled medications may be prescribed responsibly and as appropriate. These medications will be prescribed under the following conditions:

It is your sole responsibility to secure your medication to prevent lost or stolen medication. A Healthy Brain Psychiatry recommends securing controlled medications in a locked box or safe. Under no circumstances will A Healthy Brain Psychiatry refill a controlled medication early.

Patient will be subject to random drug testing. If other drugs of abuse are found, then the prescribed controlled medication will be immediately discontinued. If the prescribed medication is showing negative, then the prescribed medication will be discontinued at the provider's discretion.

Follow up appointments will be conducted no further than 3 months apart. If a patient does not show for an appointment, then controlled medication will be discontinued at the discretion of the provider. Controlled medications will not be refilled without an appointment.

Any evidence of diverting controlled medications is grounds for immediate discontinuation of the controlled medications. Patient may be terminated from the practice based on provider's discretion.
If you are experiencing withdrawal from a controlled medication such as a benzodiazepine, then patient is to seek emergency services immediately by going to your local emergency department.
